A Luminous Halo

Diary February 23, 1960: No Castle!

"No castle!
Dear Diary--
Today I heard the Westover Air Force Band play. Best of all I liked"Night Beat," emphasizing sound effects. Boy, was that weird! The clarinet player stands up and shouts "read all about it," and this man is walking along the waterfront. Then there's a crash, a bit of mumble-jumble, and a moan, hideously interpreted by a brasswind, (or woodwind)
And the percussion choir! 4 of them. The cymbal player was so cute, and the snare drummer too. Good, good, good!
I saw Gil today."
