A Luminous Halo

Diary February 13, 1960: I Go to the Rialto Roller Rink

"Dear Diary
Today I went to the RIALTO, roller skating. You should have seen me pout when Mom told me I couldn't borrow Gil's skirt. But what a thrill! It's wonderful! I've decided to go next week, too. By then I'll have a skating skirt of my own.
Another exam in catechism. I didn't finish the last question.
Gilda is now minus one glove--thanks to the red fox + his mate at the park, who snitched it.
And I didn't do any homework yet."
