A Luminous Halo

The UltraSimple Diet

Last year when I started writing for the beauty site, I began tracking a few celebrity doctors, with the thought of profiling them or their products for the site. Eric Braverman was one. Mark Hyman was another.
Mark Hyman started his career in Springfield Massachusetts doing emergency medicine before graduating to the Canyon Ranch Spa in Lenox, where he spent ten years. Now he runs his own tony clinic in Lenox--the UltraWellness Center. Because of his local connections and proximity, I thought it might be possible to go out to Lenox and tour his clinic, interview him, or try out one of his programs.
I doubt at this point I'll be doing that for the beauty site, but out of pure curiosity and on the chance that I might use it for an article elsewhere, I have decided to submit to the 7-day Ultrasimple Diet. I'm going to "kick-start my metabolism and safely lose up to 10 pounds in 7 days."
This afternoon found me at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, where I spent around $200 on organic fruits and vegetables and nutritional supplements. I bought kale, parsnips, cilantro, rosemary, dandelion greens, mangoes, berries and cherries, daikon, probiotic complex, liver-supportive complex, flax and borage oil, etc., etc., etc. This evening, I concocted my first batch of cleansing "Ultrabroth," with onion, garlic, carrot, parsnip, celery, cabbage, dandelion, butternut squash, daikon, seaweed, dried mushroom, ginger, and sea salt.
I'm doing the "enhanced version," which includes yoga, journaling, exercise, special baths, and additional supplements. Let's see what kind of week I have.
