A Luminous Halo

"Life is not a series of gig lamps symmetrically arranged; life is a luminous halo, a semi-transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end." --Virginia Woolf

Diary March 25, 1960: I Write a Cliffhanger

"Dear Diary--

I've decided I definitely want to take music next year. With Miss Goodhines.

We made raisin & nut muffins today, and they were good. Next time we cook I'll give one to Miss Goodhines.

I went to Gil's today. We made up a story (movie, really) about 'The Fall of Babylon. Not the [way] it actually happened, our own way. With our own names for the people & countries. And I finally wrote out 'Almost Human.' I'm just at the part where Danny is walking along. In three seconds he'll slip & fall. But we'll have to leave him in mid-air, practically, Mom says Go to bed! and I'm afraid to finish it now."
