A Luminous Halo

What I Had for Lunch Today: Vegetable Plate

The other day I bought a great big cabbage so that I could make gołumbki.I parboiled it enough to get the outer leaves off so that I could stuff them, and now I've got the rest of a huge cabbage to eat up.

I hacked off a chunk this afternoon and sliced it thin.I tossed it in a hot spider with some oil, salt, pepper, scallions, and parsley, then added a spoonful of water, covered it, and let it cook down a bit. I microwaved a potato, and dressed it with butter and chives. I cut the kernels off an ear of corn and sautéed them with chopped red pepper, parsley, and cilantro. Peasant food, but good.
