New Ornaments
Every year I add a couple of new ornaments to my Christmas tree. I pick something symbolic of that year usually. For the millenium, I added a glass slipper and a clock that pointed to midnight. I brought back a delicate ornament from Munich when I was there for Oktoberfest. I've got a little grey cat that looks like my dear departed YumYum, and two orange cat ornaments for his mischievous brother Catfish (both knocked off the tree and broken by Catfish--one had wings and he knocked the wings off. He knew he was no angel.)
This year I added two new ornaments. The bunch of grapes is for my trip to Beaujolais. The chandelier...??? It was just so cool, I couldn't resist it. It's big and bold and flashy. I think it appealed to me because I'm a little tired of living hand to mouth as I have been for the past few years. Being a single mother is hard, recareering is hard. I'd like to believe that I've done most of the groundwork, and the payoff is about to hit. The chandelier is reminding me to dream big.
