Diary March 17, 1960: St. Paddy's Day in the Land o' the Stereotypes
"St. Patrick's Day
Dear Diary--
Mom isn't feeling well. I guess I'm a little bit more concerned than is necessary, but she doesn't usually get sick enough to go to bed. At least she said she felt all right as long as she was in bed.
I wore a shamrock today, and a green skirt. Mr. Lussier went around with absolutely no green on, and a red tie and lapel ribbon, saying, though he now won't admit that he did, that he didn't want anyone to think he was a dumb Irishman. Miss Weissbrod called him a thick Frenchman ('dumb Irishman' was all in fun, of course).
I'm thinking of writing down 'Almost Human,' about Simba. And maybe a horse story. I've got a lot of ideas. Or maybe, 'Glory Day'."
