Glimpsed in the parking lot of Whole Foods: this made-over Mitsubishi, cheerily painted with a different theme on each section. The hood, not visible in this photograph, is a Jackson Pollock-style drizzle of various colors of paint. The interior is filled with everything from fuzzy dice to Day of the Dead figurines to a rubber duckie on the dashboard. Slogans and admonitions are painted all over, in several languages. One reads: "I wouldn't want to be normal even if I knew what it is." Another says: "Get a little crazy." Still another, "Unfait lamour."
The roof of the car has a checkerboard painted on it, with a game in progress. Somewhat disturbingly, doll limbs project from a couple of the black squares.
Not my style at all, but at least it's somebody's style. Better than a beat-up boring beige sedan. Too bad, though, that when people break away from the pack in the slightest, they feel the need to proclaim themselves crazy.
